tribes and temples in orissa:

bhubaneshwar

 

there are several hundreds temples and shrines in bhubaneshwar, the capital of orissa state. some are open to non-hindus, others can be seen only from the outside.

 

 

in the courtyard of one of the temples, a sacred tree with a goddess image and metal horses. this looks like another exampe of the integration of tribal tree worship into mainstream hinduism
